El herbario del Jardín Botánico “Joaquín Antonio Uribe” de Medellín (JAUM) es un referente nacional e internacional para la flora de Colombia y en especial para el departamento de Antioquia. Fue fundado en 1972 con una colección inicial de orquídeas bajo el nombre “Herbario de Orquídeas Mariano Ospina Hernández”. Actualmente, el herbario JAUM tiene más de 97,000 especímenes registrados, organizados y conservados bajo los sistemas de clasificación taxonómica APG IV y PPG. El herbario alberga más de 1200 colecciones tipo y posee plantas de todas las regiones biogeográficas y zonas de vida de Colombia. Se destacan entre sus colecciones una buena representatividad de helechos y licofitas.

The herbarium of the “Joaquín Antonio Uribe” Botanical Garden of Medellín (JAUM) is a national and international reference for the flora of Colombia and especially for the department of Antioquia. It was founded in 1972 with an initial collection of orchids under the name “Mariano Ospina Hernández Orchid Herbarium”. Currently, the JAUM herbarium has more than 97,000 specimens registered, organized, and preserved under the APG IV and PPG taxonomic classification systems. The herbarium houses more than 1200 type collections and has plants from all the biogeographic regions and life zones of Colombia. Among its collections stand out a good representation of ferns and lycophytes.
