United States, Arizona, Coconino, South slope of Bill Williams Mountain at a point 0.42 km. southeast of Bill Williams Lookout and 2.81 km ENE of the summit of Bixler Mountain. Bill Williams Mountain Bill Williams Mountain Quadrangle (15 min.). This is one of several new collection localities for the species in Arizona, indicating that its rarity is more apparent than real.

Shrub-dominated enclave within the Montane Coniferous Forest. Growing from crack in cliff face ca. 100 meters ENE of the lookout access road. Well shaded but moisture is somewhat limited. Soil deposits in the crack are very shallow, show a heterogeneous mixture of particle sizes, and have derived in situ from Bill Williams Mtn. Dacite and organic detritus. Cliff face is dacite.
