Growing from ledge on cliff face ca. 1 meter SW. of the stream-bed in canyon bottom. Moderately moist and very well shaded. Slope: About 75 degrees; facing north. Community: Mixture of Evergreen Woodland and Montane Conifer elements.
Soil deposits on the ledge are shallow, show a homogeneous particle size, and have derived in situ from Coconino Sandstone and organic detritus. Immediately above the Supai-Coconino interface.
